Psalm 23:8 says, “I will guide you along the best path for your life. I will advise you and watch over you.”

This Psalm comes to mind when I think of C.N.A. Ruthie Johnson, who took such excellent care of my mother, Florine. Mother absolutely loved Ruthie, who was so personable, kind, and extremely patient with her. I have so many fond memories of watching them while they were together. There were times when I just could not get Mother to do things for me; but Ruthie could just charm Mother into doing almost anything, like getting her bath or a shampoo. Ruthie has an extraordinary ability to change a person’s mind from, “I don’t want to”, to “Well, okay.” I learned so many things about caregiving from Ruthie that I will take with me on this journey through life.

Ruthie is an incredible lady – a priceless treasure – who taught me the value of not letting the small stuff get to me. She was the glue that held me together when I felt as though I was falling apart, which was much of the time. I am so thankful that Ruthie was with my mother when she passed away, and I am so grateful and so blessed that she was there with me.

Our family would like to thank Spring Valley Hospice Care in Olive Branch, MS for the wonderful care they gave our family during the time our 84 year old mother wanted to stay at home during her illness. They are the very best. Walked us through good days and the worst days.

Spring Valley Hospice was exceptional. My father was under their care for 5 days in Aug 2012, he passed from cancer. Less than a month later my Mom was diagnosed with inoperable brain cancer, thank God we used Spring Valley. The same nurse that helped my father was my Mom's hospice nurse. She was so kind and genuinely cared. My Mom passed Dec 14th, 2012 and on Hospice 4+ months. Thank you Spring Valley and your entire staff. My brothers and i would've been lost without your help.

I Just wanted to let you know how much I appreciate Kaylin. My 92 year old mother is now in the care of Spring Valley and my heartbreak over her condition was lessened considerably by Kaylin. Her combination of expertise and compassion is rare. I am sure you must be aware of what a tremendous asset she is to your team.

My family and I are forever grateful for the care and concern exhibited by Kaylin during a most difficult time. Thank you.

The staff at Spring Valley is very professional and compassionate. They made the last few months of my mother’s life very comfortable and they comforted me as I had to say goodbye to my mother and best friend. It has been five years this next May since I had to say that goodbye but I will always remember Spring Valley.

Our experience with Spring Valley Hospice was wonderful. My 84 yr old mother-in-law had dementia and started declining, her physical therapist told us we might want to consider hospice. We were like no way not yet but the next couple of days she was getting worse so we called for them to come out and explain the program. I can't tell you enough how much of a relief it was when the social worker came out. We had everything we needed from diapers, a patient lift, bed etc...most of all someone to answer our questions and support us.

I had to call Spring Valley a few times and every time I did, no matter what time 24/7, they either answered our question or came out. Even the director of nursing came out on a Sunday night from Nesbit, MS, (we lived in Byhalia, MS) because their nurses were so busy. He had oxygen and a breathing machine out there in no time from Oxford. When my mother-in-law passed March 21st, 2018 we called to let them know and our nurse and social worker were there very quick and were so comforting and compassionate.

Thank you so much Spring Valley especially the ones that we had contact with. Your hospice program is awesome, I don't think you will ever know how much y'all helped us in so many ways!

I had been using another hospice until I called Spring Valley. These people really care about you; the nurses, social workers and Chaplin. Trust me these people will take care of you, going above the limits of what needs you may have. They start the first day they arrive and will get it done no matter what it takes. They check on you 24/7 to make sure your needs are met. If you are ever thing about using Hospice 10 stars goes to Spring Valley Hospice.

Comfort and peace on the end of life’s journey

tribute of life foundation

Facing the end of life can be hard. Facing it alone, in the absence of family, friends, financial resources and qualified caregivers, is even harder.

The Tribute of Life Foundation believes that everyone deserves to complete their journey in a warm, clean bed, surrounded by people who care deeply about meeting their medical, social, emotional and spiritual needs. Through our 'No One is Alone' initiative, we are committed to funding two beds in the Comfort Care Center for people who could not afford it otherwise.
